Dr Daniel Daly is a Research Fellow at the Sustainable Building Research Centre (SBRC) at the University of Wollongong. He has experience in the assessment of the energy performance and optimal upgrade strategies for educational, commercial and residential buildings. His PhD research explored the best methods to improve the energy efficiency of lower quality office buildings, using extensive building energy simulation, qualitative analysis, and case study investigations. During his PhD research, Daniel was awarded the Endeavour Research Fellowship to spent time at the Energy Institute, at the University College, London. Daniel was also a core member of the UOW Solar Decathlon China 2013 competition winning team, which successfully demonstrated how to retrofit a typical Australian home to be a high-performance, net-zero energy homes. Daniels current project is working with social housing providers to embed low carbon upgrades into existing building assessment, maintenance and upgrade processes.
