Biography

Emily Ryan is a PhD Candidate at the University of Wollongong with the Faculty of Business and the Sustainable Buildings Research Centre. Emily completed her Bachelor of Commerce (honours) in 2014 and commenced her PhD Candidature in 2015. Emily’s research is focused on understanding the drivers for a sustainable buildings industry supply chain cluster in the Illawarra and elsewhere. No business can act in isolation and there is increased evidence to support the geographic co-location of supply chain partners to increase efficiency in the supply chain and minimise the environmental impact of supply chain activities. This co-location is referred to as clustering, hence Emily’s research is concerned with the need to identify and examine the drivers of sustainability-focused supply chain clusters. Emily was an active member of Team UOW’s winning Illawarra Flame House entry in the Solar Decathlon China 2013. She has recently helped to kick-start the new Desert Rose entry for the Solar Decathlon Middle East 2018 as Operations Manager. Emily has a strong understanding of the sustainable buildings industry and its potential to become bigger and better in the Illawarra.
