Biography

Jose Kos is a Professor at the Brazilian Federal University of Santa Catarina and former Head of the Architecture and Urban Design Program. He teaches also at the Post-Graduate Program of Urban Design at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He was the Faculty Advisor of the first Brazilian team at the Solar Decathlon Europe 2012, in Madrid, and was granted one of the most recognized national awards for sustainable design. He was one of the founders and former president of the Iberoamerican Society of Computer Graphics. He is part of the several national and international journals editorial boards, such as International Journal of Architectural Computing. In the first semester of 2014, he worked as a Research Fellow at UOW’s Sustainable Buildings Research Centre. His current research focuses mostly on architects contribution to resilient environments. As a design studio tutor, he aims to highlight the importance of a holistic and integrative approach engaging sustainable decisions through architecture’s experience.
